Red Bull announce technical reshuffle including hire from Racing Bulls after difficult start to 2026 F1 season

Red Bull have announced changes to their technical department with the aim of "reinforcing its focus on performance and innovation".

Ben Waterhouse, who has been with the team since 2017 as head of performance engineering, becomes chief performance and design engineer in an expanded leadership role and will report to technical director Pierre Wache.

Waterhouse will have responsibility across design and vehicle performance which Red Bull say "strengthens integration between these areas and will accelerate the development of competitive, high-performing solutions".

Meanwhile, the former world champions have announced Andrea Landi will join from sister team Racing Bulls on July 1 as head of performance.

Landi, who has most recently been Racing Bulls' deputy technical director and has also previously worked for Ferrari as deputy head of vehicle performance, will report to Waterhouse.

A Red Bull statement added: "These changes support the team's long-term technical ambitions and reflect its continued focus on developing internal talent while attracting leading expertise from across the sport."

Red Bull have endured a challenging start to F1's new era of regulations and sit sixth in the Constructors' Championship after three races, already 119 points behind early pacesetters Mercedes.

The former champions have also seen a succession of key staff members leave and hired by rivals over the past few years, with Gianpiero Lambiase - Max Verstappen's race engineer and the team's head of racing - last week agreeing to join McLaren in 2028 when his contract ends.

Formula 1 returns on May 1-3 with the Miami Grand Prix, the season's second Sprint weekend, live on Your Site F1.
