LPGA Tour: Nelly Korda comeback in vain as Hyo-Joo Kim holds on to win Fortinet Founders Cup in California

Hyo-Joo Kim held off the challenge of world No 2 Nelly Korda to clinch her eighth LPGA Tour title with a one-shot victory at the Fortinet Founders Cup in California.

South Korean Kim took a five-shot lead over Korda into the final round but that was erased after 10 holes as Korda notched six birdies after a second-hole bogey.

However, the American carded six pars and two bogeys from that point - including dropping a shot at 17 after three-putting - and Kim clung on to secure a wire-to-wire win with a score of 16 under, despite bogeying two of her final three holes.

The 30-year-old said after her closing one-over 63 at Sharon Heights, which featured two back-nine birdies: "I enjoyed every single day, but this course was pretty tough."

Kim had claimed her previous LPGA Tour title a year ago at the Ford Championship, which is now the next event on the 2026 calendar, live on Your Site Golf from Thursday.

Korda was aiming for her second LPGA Tour victory in as many starts this year, having skipped the Asian Swing after triumphing at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in Florida.

She said: "Obviously, something like 17 stings, so it is what it is. It's golf. It's a quick turnaround. There is next week so I'm just going to take all the positives."

The first women's golf major of the year, The Chevron Championship, takes place in Texas from April 23, with Japan's Mao Saigo the defending champion.

Hannah Green is the current form player heading into major season with the Australian winning three times in as many starts in March, including twice in her homeland.

The 29-year-old followed victory in the LPGA Tour's HSBC Women's World Championship in Singapore at the start of the month with triumphs at the Ladies European Tour's Women's Australian Open and Australian WPGA Championship.

Green secured a four-shot victory in Queensland on Sunday and said afterwards of her title-laden run: "It feels amazing. Again, it hasn't really sunk in, but it's been a crazy month. It's been really special to be able to do that in Australia."

Green's sole major win to date came at the 2019 Women's PGA Championship at Hazeltine and she missed the cut in three of the five majors in 2025.
