Adrienne Warren has landed her next big role!

Hot off her win for Best Actress in a Musical at last night’s Tony Awards, the 34-year-old actress has been cast opposite Viola Davis in the upcoming movie The Woman King.

THR reports that the movie “is inspired by true events that took place in the Kingdom of Dahomey, one of the most powerful states of Africa in the 18th and 19th centuries. The story follows Nanisca (Davis), general of an all-female military unit, and Nawi (The Underground Railroad‘s Thuso Mbedu), an ambitious recruit, who together fight enemies who violated their honor, enslaved their people and threatened to destroy everything they’ve lived for.”

Adrienne has landed the role of one of “the warriors in Nanisca’s elite unit.” Olivier Award-winning actress Sheila Atim has also been cast as one of the warriors.
